Michael Turner joined St. George School after studying how communities fund schools, hospitals, and transportation in the rural West.
He rebuilt the college’s bachelor’s program around real cases. Each semester, students work on a question from a local government, nonprofit, or company and present their findings.
He still teaches the first-year course in public finance, which he describes as the most useful thing an economist can learn.
